Founded in 1981 by the Lorenzo Garden Club, the Lorenzo Cemetery
Association is a non-profit organization supported by donations
and memorials. The purpose of the Lorenzo Cemetery Association
is the beautification of the cemetery and to assist with other
maintenance. The City of Lorenzo budgets money for the mowing
of the area. Lee Hinojos is hired by the Lorenzo Cemetery Association
to oversee the maintenance of the cemetery.
Recent improvement projects completed include:
- Tree trimming
- Installing of irrigation systems to water all trees
- Planting of 171 Rocky Mountain Juniper trees on the perimeters
of the cemetery
- Installing of water lines to all areas of the cemetery
- Chemical spraying of weeds
- Erecting of signs for the cemetery
- Planting of 6 Red Oak trees
- Planting of 6 Pistachio trees
- Planting of 32 Bradford Pear trees
The Lorenzo Cemetery Association has recently started on a
new project of leveling grave markers. Slaton Monument has been
contracted for this. Work is scheduled to begin next year in
the early spring.
