Lorenzo's Chamber of Commerce has selected Mr. Marvin Schoepf to be recognized as our Citizen of the Month. Marvin is a full time farmer who has lived in the Lorenzo Community since 1939. His parents were Earl and Vida Lou Harris Schoepf. While attending Lorenzo High School he met Loreeta Hill his wife. He graduated in 1958. And they were married in 1959. They have three children: Bryan and Mark of Lorenzo and Janet of Lubbock. Before starting to farm in 1962, Marvin worked for Hurst Farm Supply for one year, then he worked for Lorenzo Grain Coop for two years. Currently, Marvin farms about 5,000 acres North and East of Lorenzo with his sons and grandsons. Marvin has been active in the community:
Currently he is in his 9th year as director South Plains Electric Coop Lubbock representing Lorenzo. Marvin is also active in his church. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Lorenzo where he serves as an usher, Sunday School Class, Senior Adult Couples, and Deacon. In his spare time, Marvin enjoys spending time with his seven grandchildren: Allen, Matt, Tamara, John, Josh, Trevor, and Ross, taking care of old cars and trucks, and gardening. He states that he thinks that Lorenzo is the best place to raise a family and a good place to live. Mr. Marvin Schoepf typifies the outstanding citizen which the Lorenzo Chamber of Commerce wishes to honor. He is an asset to his friends, neighbors, and community. |
