Monica is the Director of Ballet Folklorico Paloma Libre, based in Lorenzo, Texas. This group is a Non-Profit Organization that has been providing a fun, exciting learning environment for children and adults from age 2 and up. This group first organized in 2002. Beginning with only three dancers the group has expanded and now has over twenty members. Being a member allows each individual to become acquainted with children and adults from other folklorico groups. They have performed for a variety of occasions such as El Diez y Seis de Septiembre, Dia de Renovacion, Dia de la Virgen, Pumpkin Days, Womens Society Club, Weddings, Jamaica?s etc. There are 32 states in Mexico and each costume hair piece, jewelry, hat shoes, music, dress movement and step symbolize a specific state in Mexico. The most common song of folklorico dancing is el Jarabe Tapatio, which represents the state of Jalisco. Each performer works hard in order to learn each step, choreography and movement. This also helps develop a bond of friendship and respect.

? I enjoy spending time with my daughter Lucero, sitting outside with my family, dancing and taking spur of the moment out of town trips. I also enjoy volunteering my time to help out with anything that I can that involves my daughters extra-curricular activities.

I hope to put a smile on everybody?s face everyday whether its with my sense of humor or my beautiful singing! ( I can?t sing a note)?
